Implant Supported Dentures
If your denture moves when you eat or talk, or you rely on adhesive to keep it in, implants can hold it in place. An implant supported denture clips onto two to four implants, so it stays secure but still comes out for cleaning.
How they work
Implants are placed in the jaw, and small attachments on the implants click into matching fittings inside the denture. The denture sits firmly while you wear it, and you unclip it at night to clean it and the implants.
- Lower denture on two implants – a common starting point, since lower dentures tend to be the least stable.
- Upper or lower denture on four implants – firmer support, and an upper denture can often be made without covering the roof of the mouth.
In some cases, your existing denture can be adapted to clip onto the implants.
Who it suits
You may be suited if you wear a full denture that is loose or sore, have trouble eating firmer foods, or want more security than a standard denture without moving to a fixed full arch.

Your treatment, step by step
- Consultation and 3D scan – we check bone levels and your current denture.
- Implant placement – under local anaesthetic.
- Healing – around three months. Your denture is relined so you can keep wearing it.
- Attachments fitted – the clips go onto the implants and into a new or adapted denture.
- Review – we check the fit and teach you how to clean around the attachments.
