Are dental implants right for me?
Implants may be an option if you:
- have one or more missing teeth
- have a tooth that needs to come out
- find your denture loose, uncomfortable or hard to eat with
- would rather not have healthy neighbouring teeth prepared for a bridge
Suitability depends on your bone, your gum health, your medical history and habits like smoking. We check all of this with an exam and a 3D scan before recommending anything.
Implants aren’t the only way to replace teeth. Bridges and dentures suit some people better, and we’ll talk you through each option so you can decide.
How the process works
- Consultation and 3D scan – we examine your mouth, take a 3D scan and talk through what you want.
- Treatment plan and written quote – your options, timeframes and costs, in writing.
- Implant placement – under local anaesthetic, with oral sedation, IV sedation or general anaesthesia available if you’d prefer. Where suitable, an extraction can be done at the same visit.
- Healing – usually around three months while the bone bonds to the implant.
- Your new tooth or teeth – the crown, bridge or denture is made from a digital scan, fitted and your bite checked.
- Ongoing care – regular reviews and hygiene visits to keep your implant and gums healthy.
What do dental implants cost?
Cost depends on how many implants you need, whether you need an extraction or bone graft, and what goes on top of the implant. You’ll get a written quote after your consultation.

Placement is done under local anaesthetic. Most people have some soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards, usually managed with simple pain relief. Everyone's recovery is different.
With good home care and regular reviews, implants can function well for many years. Like natural teeth, the gum and bone around them can become inflamed, so cleaning and check-ups matter.
